I have a set of Trijicons on my Colt 1911 and very pleased with the quality. However, seems all the reviews I read about Trijicon AR sights are about 50-50. Based on some of your experiences here, which do you feel is the better route? If there’s a better night sight you recommend, by all means, put it up. Thanks. I’d bet that those 50/50 reviews aren’t talking bad about the sight itself, but rather the idea of using night sights on an AR. Plus 1 on that. The sights are not the issue, it is just the whole need of having dots on a AR that is questioned. A good flashlight would serve you better. Have both… You don’t always want to use a flashlight. There are times when you need to stay dark. j-place Dec 2008 USA FL, USA 35 : 0-0-0 : Today 3:22:19 T I have used both Trijicon and Meprolites on my AR’s and I prefer the Meprolites. It really boiled down to the Trijicon front sight was to wide for my taste. The Meprolites were closer to the standard front post width. The rear night sight I found was useless for me and was not clear once you have the front sight in focus. I’ve used both with Aimpoints and have no clutter issue either at night for cowitness. The Trijicon will give a round dot and night while the Meprolites give a small vertical oval.

I have the REV F 512′s in stock and they HAVE the raised rubber face plate!I just bought a used eothech sight off the equipment exchange, and it appears to function normally. However, if I set the sight (by itself), flat on a table and move my head around it, the point of aim changes. I tried this because my groups at 100yrds were huge, although I can still efficiently recycle soda cans at short range. Does anyone else have this problem? I thought the benifit of the holographic sight was that the point of aim isn’t dependant on your viewing angle.

(I believe this is how it works, I’m not really 100% sure as I haven’t researched it much). The PredatAR has the standard 0 MOA cant top rail. -OBR has a heavier barrel profile, the PredatAR has a light-weight barrel profile. The heavier barrel will be able to absorb more heat and will exhibit less flexing while firing and may be better for pure precision applications. The PredatAR’s lighter barrel is great for CQB or competitions where speed is going to be the most important. It is also still extremely accurate as any LaRue Tactical rifle will be. But it shouldn’t be just as consistently accurate as the OBR (at least, on paper).

Can you use the 3x FTS ( flip to side ) ? My friend’s has a BUIS under the FTS mount.

I was planning on picking up a 517 and 3x for my AR.

CrazyK,

There are a number of combinations that will work for you, especially if you don’t have the bulky m4 style handgurds to contend with, which will not let you move the EOTech far forward enough for some applications.

My unique problem is that I am trying to use the Colt 6920 in it’s stock form without
any modification and trying to get all three components to fit and cowitness on that limited length of Colt rail. Most folks are willing to either settle for the EOTech and just a magnifier, or an EOTech and just the BUIS.

I recently purchased a Aimpoint T-1 and mounted it to the forward rail and that gives you almost a perfect cheekweld without the use of any add ons to the stock. So my recommendation at this point is to go with the Aimpoint T1 Micro. Thanks! Can you see/use the irons through the T1 mounted in that manner? I’d prefer something where I can use the irons (if needed) without removing the optic… otherwise, I’ll probably end up using some sort of QD mount. With the scout and a T1 they will not cowitness. Close but no cigar. The T1 is slightly higher than the sight plane. For a standard stock gun, I like the T-1 as it sits very low. It is a narrow tube however which some users may not like.

The D AR-15 Stocks was beefed up around the buffer tube area as deemed necessary in a combat situation, not that a broken AR-15 Stocks AR won’t still function it just won’t function as well. Doesn’t really matter as you probably won’t see more than 6 C types in a lifetime of messing with these things unless working for the govt and even then they haven’t been produced since 1964 so most are long gone. You will see a bunch that are just sanded down type D’s if you stay with retro for any length of time. Was a real popular mod in retroland in the beginning as they command a lot more coins. As far as that goes I’ve seen a B&W production photo in the early 60′s showing an employee sanding a AR-15 Stocks.

Negative. The D & C have different profiles on the bottom. It can be hard to see in a picture, but if you have the two in front of you it is easy to see.

Needs more finish work. But perfectly functional. The 7.62 is better suited to a longer barrell, but you aren’t turning it into a peashooter with an 18″ barrell. Comparing mine side by side, the shorter barrell does have a bit more noise to it, not objectionable but is there. Anytime you shorten the barrell, you’re gonna increase the noise a bit. Same with muzzle flash usually. As far as range, you’re sight calibrations won’t be quite right at longer ranges, but the notion of any rack grade, iron sighted 7.62 gas gun shooting standard ball ammo having an effective range of 900 meters, much less with a carbine length barrell is a bit laughable.(Isolated AFPJ stories notwithstanding)Yeah, every magazine’s gonna have one or two “golden BBs” in at that range, but that’s far from meaning that’s the effective range, which last time I checked, was the range at which hit probability drops below 50%. kcolg30:
kcolg30 regularly visits their website and transfers monies via CC to the great people in TX. In turn they ship me perfection items. kcolg30 and other members support LaRue Tactical due to their great customer service and outstanding products.

LaRue Tactical is good people.

I know the battery is too large so it’s not even possible, but the only way it could have been better was if it could somehow fit a spare battery like my old M3 and LaRue Tactical mount did. As it stands though, it’s perfect. I can fit one on top of my ACR grip plug though so it’s not an issue.

FAST order processing and COOL/USEFUL free stuff with a PEERLESS product line at unbeatable pricing?! How do they do it?!

Thanks LaRue!

It’s the dillo dust. First your just using it as a dry rub on steaks. Then you discover that its good on virtually all dead animals which are passed through ritual fire before eating. Then you’re using it on grilled veggies.

But word of mouth is the best advertizing there is.

I was thinking we could have one that was dedicated to the SKS. I bought (layaway) a Yugo SKS Rifle Stocks today, I paid $251 (is that a good price?) total. It has the flip up grenade sight, and long muzzle device. Stock was dark (possibly dirty?), all numbers matched (don’t know if that’s a big deal?) and the pad on the butt plate was intact. I don’t know much about the SKS, but I’m betting someone here does. I’ll post up some pics of it next week.

SKS are good simple reliable rifles, hard to beat.
Order up some spam cans of ammo on stripper clips.
The stippers are resuable, and make loading fast.

Price, not bad these days, when SKS’s first started to get imported many years ago they where around $75 – $100 wholesell. Ammo was about that same price for 1100 on stippers and 1500 loose.
Should have put away a case of the russian ones. I like the looks of the older Russian ones, they are listed as C & R’s nowadays.

Its been reported, but I’m not sure if 100% fact, that China imported more SKS’s in a 3-5 year span then the entire production of Win. Model 94′s.

im not saying your wrong (seriously i’m not)
but i definitly re buying 2 crates of sks’s in 94 (pretty sure it was 94) for a grand total of about 45 dollars a rifle
couldn’t tell you what kind they were, i was all of about 16 and my “cousin” was 18, and at the time it seemed like an awesome idea.

as teenagers coming out of the cold war era we had a serious survivor mentality for some reason, so the crates and ammo we picked up with em went into a “cache” for a lack of a better word. where we “lived” at the time, that kind of stuff didn’t really raise any eyebrows. They guy we bought em from was a serious, old school, country, kitchen table ffl, who had crates and crates of stuff in his garage.

which reminds me, i should prolly go retrieve them from their current location before that property gets sold.

hadn’t even thought about those rifles in years.

In ’94, they were probably Chinese.

That’s about the time they were as common as most anything else in the local stores.

I should have bought more and I should have held on the the ones I bought. Have one Yugo now.

Oh yes, the Norinco SKS. I have both the rifle and carbine version. Great shooters and neither have ever failed to go bang. Back in the early 90′s you could get a rifle and 1,000 rounds for under $150 IIRC. Now I see them selling for $300+.

i dont even know what version they are,

all we knew was they were 40$ a rifle in crates of 10 with all kinds of cool shit, and the ammo was cheap as hell. Since we “put them down” we havent even touched the spot where they are, out of sight out of mind and all,

i think we pretty much verified that they were all real rifles, and then we set em up for loooooong term storage.

that old guy was cool as hell, he always had all kinds of crap, i think he went to alot of auctions at the ng base nearby.

we ended up with all kinds of cool stuff everytime we swung by

i’ll be the first to admit that my childhood was kind of different than most other folks, had alot of slightly unhinged vets as role models, who thought that kids should know everything they had to teach about what they learned in the service.

and the local neighbors (ie on the bounds of our acerage) were pretty much all serious survivalists, learned alooooot

and alot of what i learned has paid huge dividends in my military carrer

Hell hath no fury like that of a Battery of Paladins firing for effect.

The Army and Navy have items in the FY07 budget for several thousand 590A1s. The A1 does not come from the factory with the heatshield, and Mossberg 500 Accessories says that they will not fit on the 590A1. My 590A1 says different. ETA: Forgot about the slings. EDT My EOTech 551 which was the previous model before the XPS mounted on my LaRue Tactical LT-110 QD mount I had tried the absolute co-witness when I first got my EOTech and I don’t prefer it because I always see a lot of my front sight which was covering most of my field of view. When I got my LaRue Tactical QD mount it’s much better, I see less of my front sight which is now out of the way at the lower 1/3 of my view, plus the LaRue Tactical is QD which could be quickly removed in an emergency and have excellent return to zero performance. The LaRue Tactical is worth it and hard to beat in my honest opinion, I had been using mine for about five years without any problems. http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=33 YMMV AR3 -Fozzy- Bronze Contributor Team Feb 2011 USA CA, USA 256 : 0-0-0 : 5/27/2011 10:30:31 I prefer a lower 1/3 co witness, so I got the EXPS-2.
